Although there are no witnesses to this history anymore, substantial American archives remain, however, which allow to extract the truth about the great patriotism of over 20,000 soldiers and the entire army of involved civilians, Polish community activists who, together with the volunteers, devoted themselves to creating a great and strong, free and independent Poland, and for whom we should also ensure a worthy place in our historical memory.

On Wednesday, November 10, that is, on the eve of the National Independence Day, at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland located in a historic building on Lakeshore Blvd. in Chicago, official celebrations were held, combined with the presentation of decorations awarded by the President of Poland, and with artistic performances.

The celebration of Independence forces us all to reflect. It forces us to analyze the facts: what has been done to fix Poland and what has not. Many activities after 1989 are still in doubt.

Poles have lost their independence twice in their history. They lost it in stages for the first time, handing over border areas to their neighbors three times (I partition of Poland - 1772, II - 1793, III - 1795). After the defeat of the Kościuszko Uprising and the last partition, the name of Poland disappeared from the maps of Europe and the world for 123 years.

It is time to create professional, pro-Polish lobbying in strategic countries for Poland, and to invest in the collapsing Polish diaspora media. The network of Polish diaspora media and strategically connected organizations in countries important to Poland is an important step and the most important priority that nobody talks about. The Polish diaspora around the world has the potential that can not only help strategically support Polish interests, but also help change the image of Poland.

At first, travelers thought that the train stopped in the middle of nowhere. Before them was a flat space covered with a slippery layer of mud. At dawn, they waited for the outlines of houses to appear on the horizon — in vain.

The Polish media again missed the visit of an important American scientist, leader of the Polish community abroad, and the man behind the liquefied gas (LNG) contract that was signed between Poland and Texas. There were many opportunities indeed to get interested in this extremely distinguished friend of Poland.

For many years, Polish governments were not interested in properly nurturing the Polish history. Even now, the history taught in schools contains many understatements and fake "facts". Therefore, the historical awareness of many Poles today is limited to the symbolic commemoration of monuments and memorial sites, while the rest of the world has no idea what the terrible fate of the Polish nation was during the Second World War, and the crimes committed against the Poles remain in the shadow of the Holocaust.

Poland and Germany have always been bordering each other, ever since the Middle Ages, ever since the times of shaping their individuality and identity. At a time when the borders between the states had not yet been firmly established, the inhabitants moved freely across the territories of both communities. In later periods, the waves of emigration were caused by economic and political reasons. About 8 million people have moved to Germany from Poland in the last 200 years.

In view of the weakness of the political elites in Poland and in the world, we must promote and educate adepts of the Polish elites. Geopoliticians such as Jacek Bartosiak and Leszek Sykulski talk about it. Editor Rafał Ziemkiewicz echoes them. Similar situation can be observed in the Polish diaspora all over the world. There is a shortage of people who could contribute to creating a new policy for the Polish diaspora in the United States.
