Joe Biden summed up the defeat of the Democrats in Virginia. This was due to, among others, the economic situation and the increase in fuel prices, he said. He added that this is an impulse for the Congress to adopt the bills that were being negotiated for a long time.
One of the new president's first decisions was to close the Keystone XL pipeline. A project is currently underway to close another Canadian-to-Michigan pipeline, Line 5, built during the Eisenhower era and pumping 23 million gallons of oil per day.
According to Newt Gingrich in his latest book Beyond Biden: Rebuilding the America We Love, the new president promised to unite all Americans, but it seems that it was just a slogan. Thousands of immigrants flock from South America and cross the border between Texas and California and are promised millions of dollars. The chaos in Afghanistan has not built a positive image for the current administration. However, the biggest threat is the growing crisis of supplying stores with sometimes basic products. The relocation of production of strategically important items such as medicines is a serious threat to millions of Americans. More than 90% of antibiotics are produced in China.
Not surprisingly, in addition to the progressive ideology of the Democrats, Americans get nothing in return, and most importantly, are starting to pay the price of this increasingly costly power change operation. The popularity rankings are dropping drastically and, at the time of writing, reach 38% for Joe Biden and only 28% for Kamala Harris. Inflation is raging, prices are rising, taxes and communal fees are rising. In large cities, the scale of crime is increasing, policemen are being fired — see Chicago.
What is the real electoral success of Republican Glenn Youngkin? It is really all about running a skillful campaign to focus on issues that matter to Americans. The Republican candidate focused his campaign on issues of education and the controversy surrounding the teaching of racism and history. They were the subject of stormy protests by conservative parents against school district authorities. They won the support of women who are involved in parental protests against the thoughtless teaching of racism theory even to pre-school children.
Children coming from school crying that “I don't want to be white, because white people are bad people” caused parents' frustration and their overwhelming reaction at the ballot box. Another issue is the clever avoidance of the current Republican leader Donald Trump in the election campaign, whose statement about, for example, the recently deceased General Colin Powell, a Republican, was not a act of a skillful politician.
So the polarization and destruction of the US political system is progressing.
Finally, I would like to quote an excerpt from Leon Panetta, former secretary of defense, director of the CIA in the administration of Bill Clinton, that the greatest threat to the security of the United States at present is the partisan perception of US politics. Putting party interests above the American raison d'etat causes the greatest dysfunction of the American political system and it is a threat not only to the US political system, but also a threat to the global security system.
