There are still a few weeks left until November 5, 2024. Will any of the candidates make a direct appeal to the Polish community for support? Will the current Polish American Congress or the Polish-American Coalition make such an appeal for support for a candidate? Or will it happen again that we, as Polonia, will allow ourselves to be manipulated.

He was the first to create and describe the definition of the crime of "genocide" and to push for its introduction into international law by the UN. This was his life's mission, for which he paid a high price. August 28 marked 65 years since his death.

All of us from our generation remember the first bilingual monthly magazine in the United States, "Polish News". It is still published today by our wonderful friend Krystyna Teller. Since neither the Polish authorities, nor the media noticed that Krysia had already retired, we allow ourselves to recall how "Polish News" came into being.

I just finished watching the US presidential debate. Unfortunately, I didn't learn anything new. Apart from the familiar slogans from previous speeches by both candidates, the debate lacked any specific programmatic elements.

How is it possible that a country that in the 1980s had a public debt of 150 percent of GDP and unemployment of 17 percent, became the economic tiger of Europe? It owes this to effective and efficient work with its diaspora.

The life of Felix Paul Wierzbicki (1815-1860) is a remarkable tale of resilience, patriotism, and diverse accomplishments. Born in Volhynia, Ukraine, he abandoned his initial pursuit of medicine to join the November Uprising in 1830-1831, actively participating in pivotal battles for Polish independence. Forced into internment and later exile, he immigrated to the United States, leaving an indelible mark on various fields.

He was supposed to be a military man, but the uniform was not his calling. He discovered and introduced to the world some 60 unknown species of flora and fauna. Georgians owe him a unique national park and remember that he was responsible for the creation of what was then Russia's first nature reserve. In Poland, however, Ludwik Młokosiewicz remains completely unknown.

The Polish American Congress (PAC, Kongres Polonii Amerykańskiej, KPA) was the largest Polish organization in the world. It was founded in June 1944 in Buffalo, New York. Over 2,500 Polish activists and Polish priests from 26 states participated in the founding meeting.

This monument was not created out of a desire for revenge, but in memoriam. The monument in honor of the victims of the Volhynian Massacre was ceremonially unveiled on July 14, 2024 in the town of Domostawa, in the Jarocin commune, in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship...

Recently, the Bydgoszcz publishing house “Koronis” published Józef Kuffel’s book “The Phantom of Freedom” (Widmo wolności), dedicated to the participant Mrs. Stanisława “Stella” Calińska (née Walasek). She died in Petaluma in northern California in mid-July 2022.

The world admires Maria Skłodowska-Curie, but instead of connecting her with Poland, her home country, it most often connects her with France, where she spent most of her life. We write about a great Pole, a resident of Warsaw, a woman of unique personality, and what each of us should do to refresh the memory of the Nobel Prize winner on the 90th anniversary of her death on July 4.
